Congratulations to Rob on receiving the Gold Coin Award on the Chevron Jansz-Io Compression (JIC) Project!
This award acknowledges Rob’s exemplary problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and commitment to safety and quality.
Rob, a boilermaker and welder, was nominated for the Chevron Safety Quality Environment Leadership Team (SQELT) Award in December for his proactive approach and innovative thinking on the project. Recently, he was formally presented with the Gold Coin and a Swiss watch by JIC Construction Lead, Ryan Staniforth.
Rob has been responsible for a number of problem-solving outcomes that have made a real difference on site.
During the original Gorgon Construction phase, he designed and fabricated steel container door stops to prevent injuries caused by doors slamming shut in windy conditions. This innovation was widely adopted by contractors on site and significantly improved safety.
“Rob doesn’t just identify problems, he comes up with practical, effective solutions that make the site safer and more efficient,” said HSE Lead, Faron Oldridge.
“His initiative has had a real impact over the years.”
On this project, Rob’s problem-solving mindset was evident during the installation of multiple buildings. His initiative in verifying and adjusting the survey points ensured a more efficient and precise installation process, demonstrating exceptional technical judgement.
“I wanted to make sure everything was spot on before we moved ahead,” Rob shared.
“The goal is always to get the job done right the first time.”
Beyond structural work, Rob also identified an opportunity to improve air quality on site.
He suggested fitting two-metre sections of pipe to the exhaust outlets on diesel generators to redirect fumes away from workers. His recommendation has since been implemented, further enhancing onsite conditions.
Rob’s hard work and innovative thinking continue to make a meaningful impact on the project.
Well done, Rob!
