Gladstone Operations Manager, Joel Genninges recently shared his exhilarating experience at the Variety Jet Trek, an incredible effort in which 99 people travelled from Kingscliff to Gladstone on a Jet Ski to raise money for kids in need.

Despite facing some bad weather that cancelled two of the six days, the annual event didn't dampen the spirits of participants, including Joel, who described the trip as "awesome".

One of the significant highlights of the Variety Jet Trek was the successful fundraising effort, which raised over $380k for children who are sick, experiencing disadvantages, or living with disabilities.

"It is extremely humbling when you see firsthand the efforts you put in going to kids and families who really need it," Joel said.

Joel was inspired to participate in the event not only because of the allure of adventure but also because it offered the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. Having participated for three consecutive years, he highlighted the thrill of exploring new places while raising charity funds as the driving force behind his continued engagement.

"Each year, a family with children with disabilities is invited to join the Trek journey and share their stories of what and how Variety has helped them," Joel said.

"Each town we stop at, Variety announces what donation Variety has made to that community and invites families from that community to attend the nightly functions to be present with donations and share their stories."
