After graduating from Curtin University in 2021 with a degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Afsoon has been working with Monadelphous since 2019 in some capacity and now works within Engineering Construction in the Electrical and Instrumentation division.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work on a few different projects which has seen me focus on different things while on site and in the office including, tracking progress, technical queries, requisitions, making up work packs and sometimes tendering.”

“I started as an Undergraduate Electrical Engineer in December 2019 and have been working with Monadelphous either full time or casually since, depending on my university commitments but now I’m a Graduate Project Engineer and loving it!”

When asked what her favourite aspect of her job is, Afsoon said being able to see the tangible outcomes of the work she does as a project unfolds.

“The construction industry was out of my comfort zone when I first started and I’m still learning, so most of the experiences I have had are a first for me!

“When I had my first 3-week swing, working back-to-back 12 hour shifts with some of the most dedicated people I’ve ever met, it was a bit of a culture shock, but I developed a routine and found the swing to fly by.”

“I had an interest in construction, problem solving on the fly and learning new skills and I feel like I’ve found my place here,” finished Afsoon.

If you know anyone who might be interested in the graduate program, check out the opportunities.
