Connecting with culture

In June, the Energy Team participated in a cultural walk through Karrgatup (Kings Park).

It is a commitment within our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan to increase understanding, value and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and knowledge through cultural learning throughout our organisation.  The Energy team were able to enhance their cultural knowledge with a three-hour guided tour by Meg and Walter at Go Cultural. Acknowledging our own ancestors’ roots and origins, the team were given Indigenous names to be known as for the tour and learnt of both Kings Park ancient past and continuing significance to Perth traditional owners, the Noongar people.

Walking through the Park's beautiful native flora against the backdrop of the City skyline, this unique tour includes a Dreamtime story, traditional song and Noongar language spoken by Walter, the tour’s Noongar guide, and a chance to learn and interact with cultural artefacts.

The immersive experience was a great opportunity for the team to gain a greater appreciation for the city where our head office is located.
