Recognising excellence at the NOPSEMA HSR Forum

Earlier this year, 17 health and safety representatives from the offshore industry were nominated for the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) HSR Award which was presented at their fourth HSR Forum. The awards celebrate advocacy, leadership, and continuous improvement. We are thrilled to share that 10 of those nominees hailed from Monadelphous, highlighting the outstanding contributions our people continue to make in fostering a safe work environment.

The HSR Forum provides a space for health and safety representatives to engage directly with NOPSEMA – Australia’s independent regulator for offshore oil and gas operations – and other platforms such as Safer Together to share experiences, discuss safety issues, and strengthen skills and knowledge.

“This year marked the first time NOPSEMA has recognised and awarded industry HSRs, and we are incredibly proud of the strong representation from our team,” Monadelphous HSE Coordinator, Rasmi Werndly said.

From the impressive pool of nominees, five finalists were selected. Among them were our own Hakan Svensson (Woodside - NRC), Shane Richardson (Shell Prelude), and Jonathan McCluskey (INPEX - CPF) who was nominated eight times.

They were each nominated for the following reasons:

“Hakan is an important part of the HSR team with his site and industry experience, alongside a passion for OHS. He takes his role seriously and shows great leadership and communication.”

“Shane is actively involved as a HSR using the role to benefit the health and safety of his peers. He shows a willingness to utilise his skills, knowledge, and experience in supporting initiatives and investigations while producing quality work.”

“Jonathan’s contribution to the HSR role is exemplary. He is approachable, proactive, and professional. Jonathan genuinely makes a difference in OHS, with many critical safety issues completed and approved due to his hard work and advocacy.”
