The Bombing of Darwin in February 1942 was the largest single attack ever mounted by a foreign power on Australian soil, and its impact continues to be felt across the Northern Territory. As part of the Darwin community for more than 30 years, Monadelphous recognises the significance of this day, and stood alongside the Darwin community at a commemoration event on 19 February.
Representing Monadelphous on the day were Andre Jones (Mechanical Team Lead and Defence Reservist), John Ledo (Site Superintendent), and David Bally (Lead Coordinator), with a wreath laid on behalf of the company as part of the official ceremony.
“Attending community events alongside our customer and the wider community strengthens our relationships and reinforces the shared values we hold.” David Bally said.
Many of our people have personal connections to the Australian Defence Force, whether through their own service or through family members. Taking the time to honour those who served and sacrificed reflects our commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate.
At Monadelphous, we are proud to support employees who continue to serve through the Australian Defence Reserves. Our Reservist Leave provisions help employees balance military service with their work commitments, ensuring they can contribute meaningfully to both.
