Raising the bar on marine capability with Monalift 250

Monadelphous continues to strengthen its marine capability in the Pilbara through the acquisition of the Monalift 250, a modular jack-up barge set to improve the way marine works are delivered.

The 250-tonne Ravenstein-built asset is a key addition to the business and highlights Monos’ ongoing commitment to safe, efficient and reliable customer service delivery.

Marine Manager Zach Fry said the barge reaching operational readiness marked a major milestone following a complex acquisition and mobilisation process.

“It’s been a rewarding outcome after working through design, construction oversight, survey certification, importation and assembly,” he said.

“We’ve built an operational team of around eight personnel through the process, which also created a strong opportunity to upskill our people.”

Unlike traditional marine floating operations, the Monalift 250 can be positioned, jacked down to the seabed, and elevated clear of the water, creating a stable, more controlled work environment.

This reduces the impact of weather conditions on day-to-day operations, allowing works to commence immediately on arrival, enhancing productivity and supporting future growth in the region.

“Previously, we relied heavily on third-party hire, which was becoming increasingly difficult to source and manage,” Zach said.

“Bringing this capability in-house gives us greater flexibility, improved scheduling and stronger control over project delivery.”

Measuring 30 by 17 metres and supported by 42-metre legs, the Monalift 250 is equipped with a 32T HIAB crane, office, crib room, tool store and amenities, enabling crews to operate independently offshore.

“Project-specific tooling and equipment is pre-loaded prior to it being towed out, allowing works to commence immediately on arrival, with all required resources on a single platform,” Zach said.

“As a result, crews can remain onboard for the full shift, minimising lost time and improving productivity.”
