Celebrating our people and the good work they do is a key part of our culture here at Monos. To help acknowledge those who have gone above and beyond from our team, we have our MMNW Safety Champion and Northern Star Achievement awards.

Congratulations to our recent winners and everyone who was nominated – who will be our next winners?

Safety Champion Award

Supervisor, Dean Thewils – East Pilbara Operations

Dean demonstrated excellent safety leadership by ‘Being Mindful’ to identify a load of HDPE pipe at risk of uncontrolled movement prior to unloading, due to poor stacking and tie down techniques being used.

Dean ‘Got Involved’ by expressing his concerns to ensure everything was done safely. He ‘Spoke Up’ by making his manager aware of the issue who backed his assessment, preventing any onsite unloading activity.

By ‘Following Rules’ and utilising the escalation process, Dean ensured he fulfilled his duty of care to his team members by requesting the contractor leave site to re-stack and make the load safe. Once the load returned from Newman re-stacked, it was reassessed, and the team was then able to commence unloading.

Dean demonstrated what it means to live by our safety mantra, The Safe Way is the Only Way.

Northern Star Achievement Award

Project Lead, Andrew Delaney – Coastal & West Pilbara Operations

In April this year, Andrew took on the role of the Project Lead to help deliver the 11CM conveyor construction project in Tom Price.

Andrew hit the ground running in building an engineering team and setting the project up for success. The accelerated nature of the project brought with it some challenges, but Andrew used a solution focused mindset and his broad range of skills to support the team and help drive project success.

Andrew also helped to build on our strong customer relationship which has helped to secure another project for the team to roll straight onto. He has built himself a good reputation amongst our team and is recognised for always striving for excellence and gaining the respect of his peers by going above and beyond.

On top of his commitment to the project, Andrew is passionate about developing team members, promoting growth and coaching individuals. He is always caring and puts his team’s needs before his own, actively helping to develop their skillsets and achieve success.

Andrew played a key role in the success of the project and the team is grateful for the role he plays in the team.
