Eight years ago, a single phone call changed the course of Mick's career.
On his way to Perth, he received an urgent request—a Boddington Supervisor was needed immediately. By the end of that call, Mick had stepped into the role, unaware that this opportunity would take him to where it has.
Fast forward to today, Mick has not only built a high-performing team at Boddington but has also fostered a strong, long-term partnership with our customer.
Building a foundation of mutual trust with the customer turned Mick’s short-term leading hand contract into a permanent role.
Under his leadership, the team has expanded from three to eleven employees—each contributing to a culture of support, teamwork, and excellence.
“The support from the crew and the quality of people we have is what makes working onsite enjoyable,” Mick shared.
“The teamwork and camaraderie are what drive our success—good team, good crew.”
Mick’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Over the past year, he faced significant health concerns that required him to step back and seek support from the Health & Rehabilitation team. The response he received was nothing short of exceptional.
“The support was unbelievable during this time. I have never experienced anything like it—top-notch assistance that made everything easier for me and my family,” he praised.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mick values the work-life balance that comes with a drive-in, drive-out roster. As a devoted husband and father to three adult daughters, he cherishes time spent with his family.
When not at work, he can often be found fishing, diving, golfing, or riding his motorbike. Looking ahead, his focus remains on working hard and securing a healthy, well-earned retirement.
For those just beginning their careers in this field, Mick offers a piece of advice: “It’s challenging but rewarding. Some days will be tough, and you’ll need to learn not to take things to heart. Lean on your team, and you’ll find long-term success.”
