Four tiny arrivals gave the Southwest Workshop a serious case of the warm and fuzzies in early December, turning a normal workday into something pretty purrfect.
It all started with a black cat who would pop in and out of the workshop like she was on the payroll.
The team, who were happy with the additional supervision and visitor, hadn’t thought much about it until early December last year, when Area Manager Mark Holdman spotted a tiny orange kitten.
After a quick phone call to HSE Advisor Natasha Burn, came the real plot twist: there were three kittens in total, all born right there in the workshop!
Safe to say, this little crew clawed their way into everyone’s hearts pretty quickly.
With no microchip and no home, it was clear mum and her kittens needed a hand.
Natasha stepped in and took the lead, organising vet checks and making sure the whole feline family was safe, healthy and well looked after.
From there, the workshop had a few extra daily tasks on the job list. Between the usual work, there were feeds, clean-ups and more than a few well-timed cuddle breaks.
Natasha took them home each night and brought them back each morning, keeping things running as smoothly as a freshly groomed coat.
As the kittens grew, the focus shifted to finding them loving homes. Each one has now been rehomed, with one kitten sticking with mum. Mum has also been desexed and is now settled into a home of her own.
The workshop might be a little less lively now, and the team definitely misses their tiny supervisors, but it is a paw-sitive ending all round: four cats safe, cared for, and off to their next adventure.
