Teamwork baton awarded to Albemarle lithium team

Albemarle Teamwork Baton
1 Minute Read

In January, Mining and Minerals Southern Region General Manager Paul Francis and M&IS Executive General Manager Al Reid visited Albemarle’s lithium operations in Kemerton to present the sustaining capital team with the first M&IS Teamwork Baton for 2024.

The baton is well deserved recognition for the effort the team has been putting in, not only proving our service capabilities but embedding a robust safety culture and passing the one-year mark with no recordable injuries.

Under Project Manager Kate Baker’s leadership, the team has worked closely with the customer to successfully develop their processes from the ground up.

Kate said that the team has come together really well and successfully risen to a range of challenges over the past 12 months.

“There has been persistent focus on establishing the great culture we have here, with everyone supporting one another and sharing their skills and knowledge. Everyone genuinely cares about each other and take pride in their contributions to the team – it’s the sort of vibe you just want to bottle up and treasure,” she said.

The team have been completing a wide variety of work on site from fabrication and pipe work to chute work and sub-contractor management.

From the very beginning, this was a great example of cross-divisional teamwork as Monadelphous’ success in securing the Albemarle contract awards for maintenance services and sustaining capital projects followed the excellent work completed by our Engineering Construction (EC) division during construction of the lithium hydroxide plant. The EC teams delivered structural, mechanical, piping (SMP) and electrical and instrumentation (E&I) works, while developing a positive relationship with the customer from the beginning.

Monadelphous’ work at Albemarle strengthens the Company’s positioning within the battery metals space and wider presence in the South-West region of WA, while also creating more opportunities for the local workforce.

Congratulations to everyone involved for your efforts in a successful first year, which has been a standout example of teamwork and collaboration.
