Monadelphous secures Work Well Award for a revolutionary safety solution

1 Minute Read

Last week, Monadelphous took out a Queensland Government Work Well Award in the category of ‘Best demonstrated healthy and safe work design’ for our contribution to safety in the industry.

The award recognises our exceptional work on the challenging Tails Gas Stack project at the Mt Isa Acid Plant for our customer, Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL).

Facing a series of challenges in 2020, including insufficient vacuum truck power and steel bars falling within the stack, Monadelphous engineers and experts joined forces to create the innovative "Armadillo”. The Armadillo also secured a Special Commendation in our Managing Director’s Safety Innovation Awards this year.

This impressive innovation results from seamless collaboration among our engineers, site managers, rigging teams, fabrication experts, and equipment suppliers. It has significantly improved safety performance and efficiency, reduced the need for personnel, and eliminated the risk of environmental contamination.

M&IS Eastern Region General Manager, Duane Oxford said this award is excellent recognition of our team’s dedication to safety and engineering excellence.

“I’m proud of the team for setting a new benchmark for workplace safety in the industry and a great example for other companies who are aiming to create a safer and more efficient work environment,” he said.

With safety at the core of Monadelphous, it is great to see such an innovative idea receive recognition from the wider community. Well done to our M&IS Eastern Region Projects and Shutdowns team and everyone involved in making this win possible.
