Every three years, around 750,000 people descend on Germany for Bauma, the world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment.

Last month, Dave Muirhead and I (Lorna Rechichi) were very humbled to have the opportunity to attend this impressive event, together it appeared, with every potential supplier of equipment in our industry! And, to top it off we got to ‘meet’ one of our newest additions joining our fleet next year and spend some time with some old and new industry friends.

At Monadelphous we are always seeking new ways to address customer challenges and improve internal efficiencies and productivity, so by attending events such as Bauma, we ensure we are aware of potential solutions and can connect with new and emerging suppliers. In line with our environmental strategy towards net zero carbon emissions, it is also vital we are across associated product and equipment developments.

I’d sum up my experience at Bauma as a unique opportunity to see the vast range of products existing and emerging in the market in one place, the charge in our industry towards greener supply, including the innovation behind the equipment in the market, and the response to the need to transport larger and larger blades and components for the renewables sector. The ability to connect face-to-face with multiple suppliers in our industry, many of whom are based overseas or interstate, and network with leaders in the construction industry was also invaluable.

The sheer scale and size of the event and the ability to see so many products and suppliers all in one location made it clear why so many people talk about and prepare for this event months in advance. The Liebherr stand and display alone took over 12 months of preparations!

We took a lot of photos to document our adventures and share with you all, as follows.

A big focus on greening the fleet with electric cranes and hybrid models on display and new suppliers emerging targeting this market.

Catching up with Fabio Belli (Fagioli) and our Alevro Joint Venture partners (picture right hand side), dinner with Toshiaki Ujiie (president and CEO of Tadano) on left hand side.

In addition, we also visited two Tadano factories in Zweibrucken and one in Faun. The precision around bending the boom sections and accuracy of the slew ring manufacture was impressive.  An added bonus was to see our new 400T crane on the production line.

Our new CC2400 stood out on the production line …. Colour check – perfect!  Due for arrival in Australia early next year.
