Welcome to the latest edition of Ramp Up, where you’ll find some of the news from across the Energy business. I hope you all enjoyed a safe and relaxing festive period and you are refreshed and ready for 2024. This year is shaping up to be another big year for Monadelphous and Energy will play a big role in this again.
Toward the end of 2023 our team executed our largest turnaround to date, in terms of both person hours and duration, on the Prelude. The facility was the first floating LNG facility in the world and, at 488 metres long, is the largest ship in the world. The successful completion of the turnaround demonstrated the skill and experience of our team. Well done to everyone involved, from planning through to execution, on what was a world class performance.
We also closed off the year with the announcement that we were awarded a three-year extension to our existing long-term maintenance and shutdown services contract with Woodside, as well as an additional option for a further two-year extension. Congratulations to everyone involved in securing this significant award, as it is the dedication of our teams and our commitment to delivering safely and reliably over the years that has forged our strong customer relationship.
In line with our commitment to safety and The Safe Way is the Only Way principle, in this edition you can read more about the new hands off approach to rigging being implemented across Monadelphous. The approach is designed to reduce hand and finger injuries which are our most common injury type. You will also start to see hands off rigging aids on your site soon.
Our people are integral to what we do and, across the business, we have many long-term team members who have held different roles across Monadelphous over the years. In this edition of Ramp Up, get to know Jim Morris, who has taken up a range of roles across his 15 years in the business and recently joined the Energy team as a Senior Project Manager.
Continuing our theme of recognising people who live our values, I was pleased to award a number of Monos Moments awards in December, which you can also read more about. These awards were well-deserved recognition for a range of activities including safety; mental health support; rope access training; onboarding support for new starters; teamwork; and efficiency improvements. Congratulations to all recipients – and thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate your teammates.
I would also like to recognise Emma Gauld and the Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) team. They were awarded the 2023 Best and Fairest Award by Safer Together for supporting and engaging with industry HSRs. Safer Together is a collaborative industry group who are committed to building a strong and consistent safety culture. Representatives from its 180 member companies selected our team for the award. This is a great achievement, well done.
I am looking forward to a safe and productive year ahead and to seeing what we can achieve together in 2024.
Doug.
