Welcome to your latest edition of Ramp Up.
Late last year, our team was invited to provide feedback on what it’s like to work at Monadelphous in our first Group-wide employee survey in over a decade. You can read more about this in this edition.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to give you an overview of what our Oil and Gas team has to say. As you probably remember, the survey was managed by an independent research agency to ensure everything remained completely anonymous.
At a glance:
- More than 400 of our team took the opportunity to participate (adding to a total of 1,600 respondents across Monadelphous).
- Our team’s satisfaction rating was 7.3 out of 10, which is higher than the Monadelphous average of 7.1 out of 10. Overall, our professional and office-based employees reported slightly higher job satisfaction than our tradespeople and site-based employees.
- It was really encouraging to see that our team felt that we are strong in the areas of safety, values and culture, as well as acceptable workplace behaviour.
- There were some areas you told us we should look at improving, including communication, leadership presence, remuneration, career progression and flexibility.
Broadly speaking, our team’s feedback is well aligned with Monadelphous-wide feedback. From my perspective, there were no real surprises and I am confident that we are heading in the right direction.
The Oil and Gas leadership team are now working through the detail and starting to develop our focus areas. We will start to share with you shortly the actions which will help address some of the key themes you mentioned you’d like us to take a look at. Your feedback also helps to shape our 2023/24 Oil and Gas Strategy, which we are currently in the process of developing as part of our annual strategic planning process.
Beyond this, March has been a busy month across our business, with a number of important events taking place.
Firstly, it was fantastic to kick off the first of our Leadership Forums for the year, bringing together leaders from across our oil and gas operational sites for a day of learning and networking. These forums are a great opportunity to share knowledge, talk about trends within our business and discuss our key areas of focus.
We also sponsored the West Kimberley Careers Expo in Broome, where we connected with local students and job-seekers to discuss oil and gas career pathways and inspire them for their futures. This follows on from the launch of Monadelphous’ 2023 Graduate and Vacation Programs. If you know someone looking to kick start their career in engineering, construction management, accounting or HSE, I’d encourage you to submit a referral via email to graduates@monadel.com.au.
Finally, in March we also celebrated two important events that celebrate diversity and inclusion in our workplaces – Harmony Week from the 20th to 26th of March and International Women’s Day on the 8th of March. You can read more about these events in this newsletter.
Also in this edition of Ramp Up, find out how robots are revolutionising fabric maintenance, meet Ella Fiddian and read about Gove’s 16th successful shutdown.
Until next time, please stay safe and look out for one another.
