The Custom Fleet team are a group of quiet achievers, providing 24/7 support for the customer including crisis support and working on one of our longest contracts – all with zero recordable injuries.  

The team started working for Western Power in 2001 and has continued to secure contract extensions ever since. When Western Power sold the fleet to Custom Fleet, the Company asked that Monadelphous continue to provide support. Following this, our services extended beyond Perth metropolitan area to wider Western Australia.  

The team now cover the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS) in which Western Power operates, from Kalbarri in the north, out to the Goldfields and down to Albany.  

On call day and night, the team are there for the customer in times of need – from extracting a vehicle stuck in rising waters, to setting up service centres during bushfires and providing support through Tropical Cyclone Seroja in 2021.  

Impressively, over two decades of service, the team has also chalked up zero recordable injuries.  

They are currently preparing to expand into another facility in April, a super depot with approximately 800 Western Power employees and the opportunity to service all employees’ vehicles.  

Operations Support Manager Frank Jackson said that the new facility is a great growth opportunity and that their strong team culture is the foundation of their long-term growth and success.  

“Each of the team members is very flexible, they all have the attitude of pitching in and doing whatever they need to do to provide the best service to our customer,” he said. 

“Maintaining a strong 20-year relationship with Western Power/Custom Fleet is proof of the value we provide and how consistently we have delivered for them over the years.” 

Frank said the team has also recently taken on their first apprentice and are supporting his development.  

“We have a very team-oriented philosophy – the team members have some involvement in recruitment, so we ensure that we select like-minded people who align to Monadelphous values,” he said.  

“We generally have long tenured employees, which really shows the great working environment everyone has played a role in building and maintaining.” 

The next challenge that lies ahead for the Custom Fleet team is the move to zero emissions and increase in electric and hybrid vehicles. With more than 80 hybrid vehicles currently in the fleet and training in this space, the team are well positioned to take on this challenge.
