This month’s winner is a trio who have put safety front and centre with an innovative solution that could make a considerable difference in confined space rescues:
Fran Rourke, Wren Mercado, and Albert Sequiera.
Initially driven by the GTS Maintenance leadership at Tanami, the team collaborated with Monadelphous to improve equipment used in confined space rescues. They assessed risks, tested devices and landed on a solution that gives the confined space attendant the confidence to help safely remove team members before emergency services arrive. The new smart arm simplifies the extraction process and eliminates the need for attendants to put themselves in danger. A practical, forward-thinking outcome that puts safety first.
We also had several standout nominations this month that deserve a round of applause:
Brad Smith - Brad has taken time during his workday to mentor others in blasting and painting. He’s sharing years of experience to strengthen the team’s capabilities at Tanami. This extra effort is building a more skilled and confident crew.
Chloe Reid - Chloe developed detailed manuals covering onboarding and recruitment at Olympic Dam. These are now used by other admin staff during leave periods and made for a smooth start for her new onboarding partner, Sidney.
Geraint Rodgers - After spotting a recurring issue for a team member, Geraint resolved it and then guided them on how to manage it independently. He’s received consistent positive feedback for his proactive and thoughtful approach.
Leanne Rice - As cost controller on the Over Land Conveyor project, Leanne prevented a potential overcharge of $250,000 from a subcontractor. Her sharp eye and experience made all the difference.
Luke Provost - Luke recently completed pipeline projects at two sites with minimal initial scope. He found practical solutions, delivered results and earned strong client praise. His consistent performance, commitment to high standards and ability to build long-term client relationships have helped secure ongoing recurring work.
Steve Gstalter - When the Blast and Paint teams Fuel Pod was deemed non-compliant, Steve came up with a new innovative transport frame design. It included mounting points, tie downs, forklift pockets and the appropriate safety signage.
Matt Montemayor – At Worsley Matt has been committed to his work on the shutdown and persevering through all tasks allocated to him, even the unpleasant ones. His job set up and housekeeping on task has been top tier showing accountability of his workspaces to be safe.
Leonard Jannese - Leonard was key in putting the final polish on preparations for DEMIRS visits down at Worsley, which went extremely well. Leonard just doesn’t stop, no matter what level of task is put in front of him. Well done Leonard, this aligns with Monadelphous’ values of what they would love to see from all their team members.
Michael Thomas – In the Southwest Mick has shown his passion and drive to our customers through strong and knowledgeable leadership. This has helped Monos pick up future work scope knowing that our teams provide a safe and quality execution of site projects. Well done Mick for your continued efforts and strong performance.
