For years, our clients' old RO/Fire water storage tank in the Goldfields stood firm, resilient against time and wear.

But behind its steel walls, unseen corrosion threatened to rupture its structure—a silent ticking clock that demanded action.

Nader, our team and our client's team knew replacing the tank wasn’t just an upgrade; it was a race against a potential hazard.

“The project was based around removing an old RO/Fire water tank that was leaking and on the verge of rupturing,” Nader, Mining and Minerals Southern Region project engineer, said.

“To complete the job, a temporary system was put in place, old tank removed, and new tank installed and tied in.”

The team moved swiftly, orchestrating the operation with precision. Every step—from concept to completion—was meticulously planned. As the gleaming new tank arrived, ready to take its place, the old one stood silent, its days numbered.

Then came the moment of transformation.

With calculated precision, the crew removed the deteriorating tank, watching as it succumbed to the crushing force of demolition.

“Monos’ started from the beginning when the tank was initially thickness tested,” Nader explained.

“Jason Carroll, the Site Superintendent, made a massive contribution by recommending his expertise and experience doing similar jobs.

“The Monos’ Asset Integrity crew that was already onsite were also a massive help in assisting when required; the project would not have gone as smoothly without them.”

For the team, watching any project evolve from start to finish is gratifying, but this one had its own unique appeal.

“It was satisfying watching the old tank get squashed,” Nader said.

With the project successfully completed, a new, larger water tank now stands proud in its place, securing greater capacity during peak summer demand.

The upgraded system ensures a reliable supply when chiller and RO units are operating at maximum capacity, while also leaving plenty in reserve for fire protection.
